Chicago homeowners hiring a contractor mostly choose between SEO-spammed referral sites that don't filter for quality and word of mouth that may not show up. Nobody had built a directory with vetting, real reviews, area-based search, and a contractor-side claim flow that gives the trades a reason to engage.

Built 312Built as a full directory marketplace from scratch. Next.js + Drizzle ORM on Postgres for the data layer; NextAuth v5 for the contractor-claim flow; Leaflet maps for area-based discovery; SEO-optimized routing per neighborhood and trade. 1,600+ contractors indexed across Chicagoland with categorization by trade (roofing, kitchens, basements, HVAC, electrical, plumbing). Contractor side: a claim flow that lets verified pros take ownership of their listing, respond to reviews, and contribute to the directory’s accuracy. Admin dashboard for moderation + data hygiene.
